So, before we get to the list of the best that we have compiled for you, here’s a brief description of what makes a movie ‘the best holiday movie’.
Our Holiday Movie rule says: No matter what movie you play or watch on your TV screen, it should feel whimsy, cold, and the feeling of coming together. Family or loved ones coming together should be the description. At least manically, there has to be something in the movie to be a Christmas movie. If it doesn’t resonate with the Christmas day, loved ones, unification, and say snow – it shouldn’t be on the list!
Now, let’s start with the fun part. From die-hard classics to the modern day holiday – the list is as follows:
1. A Christmas Prince
You might find this Netflix original cheesy, but why wouldn’t a lighthearted romance warm your heart? The movie is about a very young journalist who in an attempt of getting some scoop on a handsome prince happens to fall in love with the same person.
2. Bad Santa
For all the adults planning to be together in holidays for a movie, should watch this dark comedy of Billy Bob Thornton. It has humor, a bit of heart, and a lot of profanity (but used in the best possible fun way). And, Lauren Graham is also co-starring this movie.
3. A Christmas Horror Story
Let’s make it more excellent! William Shatner is the “Dangerous Dan” and this is definitely the anthology of Christmas horror scenes. You will love the cheers mixed with horror squeaks.
4. Dear Santa

This Jim Carrey version of the original cartoon is the best thing to ask for this Christmas. He is justifying the role completely.
7. A Holiday Engagement
This Hallmark charmer has Chris McKenna, Bonnie Somerville, Shelley Long, and Haylie Duff. This is a movie about a woman who after being unceremoniously dumped hires a man to play as her fiancé for the holiday time. Interesting already right???
