Steps To Self-Install Your Service
Once you have all the items listed in the self-install kit, it is time to move on to the next step. Follow these steps to install your Spectrum home internet:
Step #1: Connecting the Modem
Connect one end of the coaxial cable to your modem and the other to your cable outlet. Connect the power cable to the modem and plug it into a nearby power outlet. Wait for two to five minutes for the modem to connect to the provider’s network. Once this is done, the “Online Status” light will stop blinking and remain solid.
Step #2: Connecting the Router to the Modem
Use the Ethernet cable to connect your home WiFi router to the modem. Plug your WiFi router into a nearby wall socket using the other power cable. Switch on the router and wait for the WiFi Status light to turn blue. Depending on the router and modem, this can take up to 10 minutes.
Step # 3 Connect a Wireless Device to the Network
Using your smartphone, tablet, or laptop, head into Spectrum WiFi plans settings. Locate the right SSID or network name and connect to it. You can find this at the back of the router. This may also be a good time to place a password on your network to protect it from unauthorized access.
Step #4: Service Activation
The final step is to activate your internet equipment. Check your installation guide for the right website address, and follow the on-screen prompts.
